Any pet owner (myself included) will tell you that life with dogs is a life well-loved. I’m definitely a dog person through and through, and I’m never far from my friendly, loyal canines. These furry friends even inform my design decisions. Here, I look at the pups (big and little) that have captured my heart and left paw-prints of the best kind, on the way that I approach interior design.
Montclair-based Deborah Hirsch (president of the Montclair Garden Club)and her beloved Bichon-Poodle mix, Ruggles, recently stopped by one of my favorite local boutiques, Table Leg Home. I was immediately won over by Ruggles’ soft curls, sweet disposition, and playful demeanor.
I asked Deborah about the decor choices she’s made since bringing Ruggles home eight months ago.
“Because Ruggles is small, we knew we’d want him to cuddle with us when we were reading or watching a movie, so I had fun finding lots of cozy washable throws without tassels,” she said. “Ruggles is partial to rug fringe, but we love him anyway.”
