“New year, new me” is a motto I will be implementing here at the office. From drinking more water to getting a few more steps in, I’m excited to start 2017 off right. On that note, I rounded up three wellness-inspired DIYs that are perfect for all the yoga enthusiasts out there (myself included!). Keep scrolling, and get your namaste on.
This yoga mat cleaner from Savory Simple is a must-have for anyone who works out. Disinfecting sprays can get pricey, but Jen, the blog’s founder, hacked a recipe that is all organic, and guaranteed to leave your mat smelling fresh and clean. She combines witch hazel and tea tree oil because “both have antibacterial and antifungal properties, which make them a great chemical-free addition to [this] yoga mat cleaner.” If you’re not a fan of those scents, add essential oils to mask the aroma. Try energizing eucalyptus or calming lavender.
Yoga is key to wellness. For the more advanced crafter looking for a sewing challenge, Pfaff’s DIY yoga mat bag is for you. Transport your mat in style thanks to this boho-chic option. Bonus: It’s cool enough to leave out at home as well (no more relegating it to the back of your closet).
Live Simply is a great blog for sourcing all-natural and organic recipes to swap out your traditional household items with. A little research and a lot of experimenting yields great solutions for creating your own products free of harsh chemicals. This dry shampoo DIY is perfect for the modern woman squeezing in workouts or running from work to cocktail hour with minimal time for primping. The recipe features arrowroot flour and essential oils, can be whipped up in minutes, and if stored properly, can last up to twelve months. A dry shampoo that lasts an entire year? Yes, please!
Share your New Year’s resolutions with us in the comments or tweet them @HOFunkDesign. I can’t wait to read them.
