Online Interior Design Vs. Full-Service Interior Design

October 3, 2017 by House of Funk 1 Comment

A. Online interior design is a thing.

B. Is it right for you?

Figuring out what kind of interior design service to choose can be hard. Not sure if you’re a full-service or online interior design client? There are a couple of quick ways to decide. Check ’em out below.

You’re an ideal candidate for online interior design if…
You are doing a decorative, design-only project that doesn’t involve a renovation, an addition, or a large list of to-dos for a contractor. Online interior design works wonderfully wherever you are. You do not have to be local to House of Funk, since you’ll be doing your own measuring and sending us photos of your space. Within eight weeks of getting your input, you’ll receive a design pack that includes a floor plan, a key elevation, inspiration images, a customized shopping list, suggestions for art placement or how to make a great bed, room dependent. All of our design wisdom in one place, so that you can execute great design on your own.

Online interior design is an amazing solution for someone who is looking to do some of the work on their own and control costs, because the project management side of full-service interior design is expensive.

You’re an ideal candidate for full-service interior design if…
You are local to the NY metro area, are doing a renovation, addition, or a project that involves contractors and shop drawings, etc. That level of detail requires us to be on site. Full-service clients also have the budget for full-service interior design. Speaking of budget…

What should you expect budget-wise?
Full-service interior design is not for the faint of heart. It is a luxury service. We come in with a holistic approach to the space, and we take the entire project into account. We are talking months of planning prior to months of renovation and execution of the project. You really have to set aside a proper budget. Every project is this little dance in the beginning…what is the dream, what does the dream cost, and what can we actually do together? That’s a big part of the initial phases of every project that we do at House of Funk, and once we have an agreed-upon scope and budget, we have the freedom to create beauty.

With online design, each room costs $2,500 (Note: This fee is for design only. More on the furnishings budget in a moment). Contact us if you’re doing more than three rooms for discounted pricing.

Have an open plan or multi-functional space? Email us at info@houseoffunk.com to figure out your fee.

After adding your room to cart, you’ll select your furnishings budget. The budget you choose will influence our shopping list for your project. No additional costs are due upon checkout. The actual purchasing of furnishings is in your hands, on your timeline.
